Fundraiser

The annual fundraiser has been a subject of confusion in past years. The reason for this event, and why it is mandatory for all of our participants is detailed below.

It has been the Lansing Old Timers policy to make all of their programs, Little League included, as accessible as possible to as many children as possible.

While the Little League Board is careful with budget and spending, it still costs a lot of money to run our program.

Rather than adding these operating expenses to your registration fee it was decided to split them into a direct, “up-front” charge (registration fee) and “recoverable” charges (fundraisers).

·       The recoverable charges do not have to cost you money.

·       The fundraiser does not have to cost you anything.

In this manner, the actual out-of-pocket expenses are minimized and those who do not have unlimited funds can still afford to let their child participate.

Unfortunately, in past years some people have decided not to participate in the fundraiser.

As a result, there have been years when we have not covered our planned budget, putting the league at risk and forcing us to cut corners that impact the quality of our program.

This is why we enforced the mandatory fundraiser several years ago.

The funds raised by actively participating more than the minimum ($40) go for capital improvements and unexpected repairs – We are currently attempting to secure funds for new lighting for the Majors’ field at the Complex and possibly a score board for Lions Field.

The allotted time allowed to collect pledges has been greatly expanded this year to make your collecting even easier.

This system allows Lansing Little League to keep the registration fees down, resulting in savings for you.

The HIT-A-THON Fundraiser is great fun for the kids, with valuable incentive prizes including team parties for top selling teams, as well as individual prizes for top sellers.  Additionally, children who actually participate (come out and swing the bat) can win additional prizes.

Last season approximately 225 children came out and ate hot dogs, jumped around in the  “moon walk” provided by one of our sponsors, RMI Receivables, and enjoyed the day.
